Huntsville typically sees more snow than Birmingham, and the snow tends to stick around a little longer. The best time to visit Huntsville for snow is typically in January or February.
The snow usually starts falling in December and lasts until late February or early March. In an average year, Huntsville sees about 5 inches of snow. Of course, that can vary from year to year – we’ve had years with almost no snow at all, and other years where we’ve had closer to 10 inches.
We generally have snow on the ground for at least a few days each year, though it’s not always perfect snowman-building snow.
Snow In Mobile
Although Mobile is located in the southernmost region of Alabama, it does experience snowfall during the winter months.
Mobile doesn’t usually see a lot of snow, but it can snow at any time from December through February. The snow is usually light and doesn’t last very long, but it’s a great experience for those who love the snow.
The average snowfall amount in Mobile is around 2 inches per year; however, there have been years where as much as 10 inches of snow has fallen.
